Natracare Organic Cotton Tampons - Regular with Applicator 16pcs
Why choose organic cotton tampons?
Most brands of tampons are made from a mix of rayon and non-organic cotton, and are commonly chlorine-bleached. Some tampons may even be wrapped in a plastic outer, or be dyed a different colour. Rayon is a highly absorbent fibre which rapidly absorbs menstrual blood but at the same time can also dry out the natural protective mucous lining of the vagina.
We believe that women should not be exposed to pesticide residues, phthalates, azo-dyes and dioxins, especially in such a sensitive and absorptive part of the body. By using only 100% organic cotton and nothing else, you know exactly what you are putting into your body.
Natracare’s Organic Cotton Tampons with Applicator
- Only 100% organic cotton, and nothing else
- Totally chlorine free
- No rayon, plastics or dyes
- Biodegradable & compostable
- Smooth, easy glide cardboard applicator
- Expands lengthways
The Natracare smooth, easy glide cardboard applicator helps with the insertion of the tampon. The material used to make this biodegradable applicator tube is totally chlorine-free. The organic cotton wadding of the Natracare applicator tampon is designed to expand lengthways, elongating as the menstrual flow is gently absorbed. The organic cotton withdrawal cord allows you to easily remove the tampon after use.
The applicator tubes of many brands are often made from plastic. One of the chemical groups found in plastic are phthalates, which can be absorbed through the skin. Disposal of these plastic products contributes to global marine pollution.
Directions for use
Instead of inserting the tampon with your finger, the applicator enables you to push the tampon easily into place. Once the tampon is completely inserted, pull out the cardboard and discard. Deciding between an applicator and non-applicator tampon is generally a matter of personal preference.
Did you know…?
About 20% of women naturally have a retroverted uterus (the uterus tilts backwards towards the spine instead of forwards) and using an inflexible applicator can cause pain during insertion. The Natracare non-applicator tampon, gently eased into the correct position using the longer index finger, makes inserting the tampon more comfortable. The organic cotton withdrawal cord allows you to easily remove the tampon after use.
What about Toxic Shock Syndrome?
Independent research, conducted at New York University Medical School, suggests that the use of 100% cotton tampons may reduce the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome compared with tampons that contain rayon. Natracare 100% cotton tampons were included in this research, and in the tests they did not produce the bacteria which leads to Toxic Shock Syndrome. All brands containing rayon did produce the bacteria.
Just remember that we are...
- Plastic Free.
Plastics pollute the environment and can irritate the skin. We use over 99% biodegradable and compostable plant cellulose instead of super absorbent polymers.
- Totally Chlorine Free.
Chlorine bleaching creates a carcinogenic by-product called dioxin. We don’t want even a trace left in our products, so we always use oxygen to purify and whiten our organic cotton.
- Biodegradable and Compostable.
Every year, over 45 billion sanitary pads are disposed of! Most are full of synthetic materials such as plastic that do not break down in the earth for hundreds of years. So, we ensure Natracare products are between 95% and 100% biodegradable and compostable.
